Africa Regional Workshop on Strengthening TB Monitoring and Evaluation Systems

LEAP Local Technical Advisors from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, eSwatini, Mozambique, Namibia and Sierra Leone participated in the Africa Regional Workshop on Strengthening TB Monitoring and Evaluation Systems, hosted by TB DIAH in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 16 to 19 April 2024.

The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of updated TB control tools, including the performance-based Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (PBMEF) and the revised Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan template. Key presentations addressed the new WHO surveillance guidelines and emphasized the need for alignment with global standards and USAID reporting requirements. 

The sessions enabled a valuable exchange of TB data and best practices among attendees from various African countries, showcasing innovative data use cases and technological advancements in TB management. 

Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the critical role of capacity building, focusing on strengthening both global and local partnerships and offering continuous training for healthcare workers to effectively utilize new TB control technologies and methodologies.
