South Africa

Dr Naidoo’s technical support in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, improved access to high-quality, person-centred DR-TB services, strengthening the Ministry of Health’s capacity through improved clinical practices, patient tracking, and sample collection. This included streamlining TB service delivery and implementing shorter treatment regimens, like the six-month DR-TB BPaL/BPaL-L regimens. The TA developed guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for these regimens and facilitated training sessions across various districts to build clinician capacity and improve overall DR-TB management.

Technical support focused on implementation and training for the six-month DR-TB BPaL/BPaL-L regimens, including the development of guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This is part of a broader strategy to improve access to high-quality, person-centred DR-TB services. The TA facilitated training sessions on the BPaL/BPaL-L regimens across various districts, providing capacity building to clinicians and improving DR-TB management.
